In a spreadsheet environment, each distributor submission is a manual translation exercise: pulling data from the internal item master, reformatting it for the distributor's specific template, and submitting it through the distributor's portal or EDI connection. The translation is time-consuming, error-prone, and done under the deadline pressure of the launch timeline. Items submitted with errors are rejected and must be resubmitted — a cycle that typically adds one to two weeks to the submission process.

The downstream consequence of a distributor submission delay is not merely a delayed initial stocking order. It is a delayed first delivery date, which delays the first promotional opportunity, which delays the first velocity data that the buyer needs to justify expanding distribution. The distributor bottleneck is a launch velocity multiplier in reverse: it compresses the brand's opportunity to demonstrate the product's commercial potential in the launch window that matters most.

Amazon Ranking Trajectory: The Launch You Can't Restart
